Teeth Sealants

Protecting you from tooth decay.
Molars and premolars are shaped with uneven pits and grooves that collect food and bacteria that can cause tooth decay. To prevent this from happening, we first give your teeth a complete cleaning and drying. Then the tooth chewing surface is conditioned to roughen the tooth surface slightly and help the sealant adhere to the tooth.  The sealant is “painted” on this conditioned surface where it fills in the grooves and pits. A harmless, high intensity light then hardens the tooth sealant. The result is a protective shield that protects against plaque forming and reducing tooth decay on the chewing surface of the tooth. How soon should tooth sealants be applied? As your new adult teeth erupt, we recommend your teeth be sealed as soon as possible.
